Retention Starts at Home: Strengthening the Support Systems Behind Our Workforce
$0.00–$25.00Price range: $0.00 through $25.00
Session Description:
This session explores how workplace policies, practices, and cultural expectations impact the retention of employees with caregiving responsibilities. Grounded in the understanding that caregiving is a common and often unseen part of employees’ lives, the discussion will examine how organizational systems can either support or unintentionally challenge caregivers.
Panelists will share insights on recognizing where gaps exist – from scheduling and flexibility to benefits and career progression – and how these gaps can influence engagement, belonging, and long-term retention. The conversation will emphasize practical, human-centered approaches that move beyond accommodation toward intentional design.
Participants will reflect on real-world scenarios, consider the evolving needs of today’s workforce, and walk away with strategies to better support caregivers while strengthening organizational culture and resilience.
At the conclusion of the discussion, participants who attend in-person will have the opportunity to attend a guided tour of the studios at Lehigh Valley Public Media; light refreshments will also be provided.
